Vil Uyana is sited just 3 miles from the
UNESCO world heritage site of the
Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is a
luxurious boutique hotel in an unusual
sitting across a paddy field. Spread over
24 acres of marsh land, spacious
accommodation is in 25 Tastefully
appointed Chalets set in a choice of 3
distinct ‘habitats'.
This hotel was visited by our Directors;
Shailesh Adalja and Philip Beckwith in
March 2007 and nearly all the
photographs used on this page were taken
during the visit. We can, therefore,
personally recommend Vil Uyana as one
offering the ultimate in eco luxury in
an unique, natural environmental
setting. Relax in the luxurious
tranquillity of the library surrounded by
nature, dine in the elevated dining room
with its hand painted wall mural (plant
paints) and panoramic views or unwind at
the Ayurvedic Spa.
This exciting eco feature of a man made lake
also allows for the first time in Sri
Lanka rooms to be built Maldivian style
on stilts over water. There are 7 Water
Villas, built "Maldivian" style on
stilts above water (1030 Sq. Feet
including a Dining Deck 200 Sq. Ft) 8
Paddy Field Villas, built "Maldivian"
style on stilts above water 1030 Sq.
Feet (These offer a Dining Deck and
private swimming Pool ) Our favourites,
however, are the 10 Forest Villas, which
are even more spacious with 2100 Sq.
Feet, offering Dining Deck, private 22
feet x 10 feet swimming Pool and open
air bathroom with oversized stone tub.
Here guests can dine in the privacy of
their villas or ‘under the stars’
