Between the road junction of Kurunagala
and Anuradhapura lies the magnificent
rock fortress citadel of Yapahuwa.
Less than 1 km from Yapahuwa is the
aptly named Yapahuwa Paradise Resort.
Actually, there are 2 hotels side by
side; the Yapahuwa Resort for tour
groups and the Ayurveda Kuren Mayo
centre, which is particularly
picturesque. In accordance with our
"Visit, Stay at and Inspect" UK HO
policy, we visited Yapahuwa Paradise
Resort on Friday 25 December 2009
(Christmas Day) and then visited but did
not stay at the adjacent Ayurveda Kuren
- which is favoured by German tourists.
Yapahuwa Paradise Resort aims to
recreate in its imposing entrance and
main block the nearby Yapahuwa
ornamental gate.
Accommodation is in dispersed 2 storey
villa blocks of 4 rooms, the hotel has
20 rooms in all. Pleasant is the pool
and the shaded pavillion it offers.
Adjacent to Yapahuwa Paradise Resort is
the Ayurveda Kuren which is designed
into much smaller buildings.
Accommodation is in dispersed chalets
and deluxe single storey villa blocks of
6 rooms which blend into the country
side environment.
