Heritance Ahungalla, formerly called
Triton Hotel, remains amongst our top 10 favourite hotels in Sri Lanka.
It has been visited and reviewed by us regularly (2002, 2006, 2007,
2008) in accordance with our "Visit, Stay At and Inspect hotels" review
policy. Our last visit was in January 2008.
Triton Hotel is located on anexpanse of sandy beach in Ahungalla 76 Km from Sri Lanka's capital Colombo, the Heritance
Ahungalla was Sri Lanka’s first ever 5 star beach resort.
The beach is average compared with Bentota but the
hotel has outstanding natural beauty.
The 5 star luxury of Heritance Ahungalla,
earlier known as The Triton greets you as you enterEntry to the vast reception area of the hotel with
the pool outlooking out onto the Indian Ocean creates a stunning first
impression on the memory that is not easily forgotten.
The infinity pool
with designed by the legendary architect blends with the endless
ultramarine expanse of the Indian Ocean. The symbol of the hotel is the
boat astride the pool. This is a luxury hotel for the water lover who
wants to be surrounded by water. The beautiful pool
with its contrasting dark turquoise and marine blue tiles extends the
length of the hotel in sub pools and terraces.
ACCOMMODATION
The rooms are luxury; our
favourite is the suite in Room 333 with its private balcony
fronting the pristine white beach. The room featured here is
Room 333, where we have stayed on two occasions in 2006 and
2007. Here at Heritance Ahungalla you can feel the caress of the
salt spray breeze and the tropical sun on your skin whilst you
wade into the warm Indian Ocean shallows. This is a hotel
combining beauty with five star comfort and superb location
right on the Indian Ocean beach.
the 154 rooms are in contemporary shades of black, beige and gold with clean modern lines, and elegant contours. Each with a sumptuous ensuite bathroom and a balcony or terrace with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.
