Kani Lanka is the
former Sinbad Hotel in Kalutara about 36 kms from the commercial capital
of Colombo. It is sited where sea, river and lagoon meet, on 36 acres of coconut groves. Originally the resort was designed by a French architect and has been re-designed by renowned architect Geffory Bawa.
In accordance with our
"Visit stay at and inspect before recommending policy, Kani Lanka was
visited for a hotel review. To us, it is a medium grade tourist hotel on
a rather rough beach with shingle. The deluxe rooms are somewhat closer
to the deluxe category. More recently, a new interior has somewhat enhanced its oriental features, blending
more in harmony with the ambient environment. A long walk from the
reception is required to reach the rooms.
Hotel
Accommodation
Kani Lanka Hotel offers 105 standard guest rooms and 6 junior suites with A/C, balcony or terrace with seaview
A basic 3 star hotel. Nothing to rave about
hotel or beach. The most interesting aspect to our visit to Kani Lanka
was a wedding that was taking place there.
