Le
Kandyan Hotel, now rebranded Amaya Hills is sited on the
hills about 6 kms from Kandy. In accordance with our
“Visit and Inspect before recommending policy” it was
last visited by the UK directors of our UK HQ in March
2003. They stayed in one of the suites. Earlier they had
stayed in one of standard rooms
Amaya Hills (formerly known as Le Kandyan Hotel) lies on
a rocky outcrop, 15 minutes drive above the hill-country
capital of Kandy. From this elevated site in its
natural
settings, Le Kandyan hotel offers panoramic views over
tranquil, wooded surroundings as well as the city of
Kandy and its surrounding hills.
At the meeting point of
the resort’s three wings, and a short walk down from the
reception floor at the highest level of the hotel is the
swimming pool area with a panoramic view across the
surrounding hills. Guests after their invigorating swim
can lounge in the open air and enjoy a stunning outlook
on the valley and distant hills.
Accommodation in Amaya Hills Kandy consists of 100 a/c
rooms with balcony or terrace, The wings of the hotel
blend into the rocky outcrops and you see rocks in the
corridors and between the rooms. The suites offer luxury
in an interesting split level design. The suites also
offer panoramic views from the balconies.
The main restaurant at Amaya Hills is pleasantly
furnished with all the cultural trappings like bullock
cart. It serves Sri Lankan and international cuisine.
The tea lounge with a huge selection of specialist Sri
Lankan teas in a cave setting is worthy of mention.
