When you arrive at the Lighthouse Hotel near Galle in Sri Lanka, the Guest Relations Office takes you up a large spiral staircase with a metal sculpted balustrade depicting a battle scene. Immediately you ascend to the first floor terrace overlooking the waves breaking on the rocks below – hence the name The Lighthouse Hotel.
