When you arrive at the Lighthouse Hotel near Galle in Sri Lanka, the Guest Relations Office takes you up a large spiral staircase with a metal sculpted balustrade depicting a battle scene. Immediately you ascend to the first floor terrace overlooking the waves breaking on the rocks below – hence the name The Lighthouse Hotel. Your check with Welcome Drink in is on the terrace

Our favourite images are of the dining areas with views of Indian Ocean waves breaking on rocks. You have a choice of dining in the vast air conditioned restaurant or the semi covered terraces immediately outside. Dine to the sound of the waves breaking on the ricks

Other dining areas are found by the pool alongside the outcrop of rocks. There is also a fine dining a la carte restaurant on the top level, adjacent to a pond area on which floating candles give a pleasant artistic impression at night.

Be tempted by a specially arranged night of Signature Dining amongst the rocks, with sound of waves breaking only meters away.

Superb dining is just some of the experiences to indulge in. Another experience is the health spa at each level.

The only drawback of the Lighthouse Hotel in Galle is the rather limited beach area, although to have such an area so close to the Dutch fort is a treat.
